Originating from Scotland, Gibson graduated from Edinburgh Collage of Art in 2009 and in 2013 relocated the studio to Berlin. In 2014 she was granted a long term private residency placement on a metal recycling yard on the outskirts of the city in Lichtenberg where her main studio is based. Gibson is currently working in Glasgow where she is currently making a body of new work and pursuing a research project in collaboration with her sponsors Polynt Composites (Grimsby) and ASCUS Art and science (Edinburgh). Gibson predominantly combines polyester resins with recycled fabrics, using various practical processes to complete work, sculpting casts at sawmills, moulding metals with onsite metal recycling machinery and lacquering art works at local car garage.
Gibson’s practice and innovative work with resins is sponsored and supported by global resin manufacturer Polynt composites.
