About

Louise Gibson graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2009. Three years later she relocated her studio to Berlin where she worked for five years. She returned to Scotland in 2017 and currently divides her work between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

As well as completing various public and private commissions, she has also been represented at both Cologne and Zurich art fairs. In previous years she has been represented by Die Kunst Agentin (Cologne) and The Albemarle Gallery( London). She has worked as a curator and has also accomplished residencies with companies working in the production and development of composite materials. She has participated in numerous group shows including the 56th Venice Biennale satellite show The fall of the Rebel Angels and Transmuted worlds Glasgow International. Recently she was commissioned by Edinburgh SculptureWorkshop and the Henry Moore Foundation to make a body of new work for exhibition. The outcome of this being an extensive solo show of monumental sculpture programmed for The Edinburgh Art Festival 2025. This year Louise worked with renowned Poet and Author Jenni Fagen on an Art and poetry collaboration. This resulted in a small publication with an additional limited edition series of Hard backs.

Commission work

She has recently completed commissions with Architects Thomas Arnold and Birgit Klauck in Germany and at the exclusive Grove Hotel in Watford. She has worked on private commissions with businesses small and large across Scotland, London and Germany. Gibson continues to grow and expand this aspect of her practice, with an ambitious vision for future collaboration.

Gibson's practice was sponsored by Polynt composites LTD from 2010-2020 and her research work has been supported by production pioneers such as DURA,BASF and NOURYON.

Sustainability

Gibson's work is predominantly made using materials sourced from metal recycling yards and textile recycling companies. She works with local trades and businesses to realise projects , car workshops, stone processing companies and local wood workshops and fabricators. Recently Gibson has been using sustainable resins in projects , these are made with 10-20% raw materials from vegetables renewable sources. These sustainable resins are pioneering and are not yet released to market.
